Heir to the Dutch throne at risk of attack or kidnapping

18 year old Dutch Princess has had to leave her student accommodation and can no longer move around freely, due to being at risk of possible attack or kidnapping. It’s been understood that she has appeared in organised crime communications, alongside the Dutch Prime Minster, Mark Rutte. Source: BBC

Princess Amalia moved to the Capital City and into shared student accommodation to pursue her degree in politics, psychology, law and economics. The Princess is seen by many as a relatively down-to-earth royal but a normal student life as most would have wasn’t in the cards for her.

The intelligence report meant that she had to abandon her new home and the relaxed student life half way through her first term at university and return home with intensified security precautions.

It is a rather rare for royals or government officials to discuss security matters, however, her parents, the King and Queen gave details during a state visit to Sweden.

Their encounter with the press was unusually emotional and when King Willem-Alexander was asked what it did to him “as a father”, he acknowledged it was a “heavy situation” and said he was unable to express the impact.

The Queen also told reporters she was proud of how Princess Amalia was coping and applauded her bravery. Her eyes glistened when describing the “difficult consequences’ her daughter and family have faced as a result.

Individuals under threat due to their status or fame require additional security to further protect and safeguard them. Furthermore, educational institutes require robust security systems and security staff in place to ensure the safety of students, staff and the campus.
